The aim of this paper is to analyze the symbolic significance of the spindle and woolen threads in the magical, religious rituals and beliefs of the Hittites and Mesopotamian peoples. It should be noted that the paper equally presents Greek, Roman and Armenian beliefs regarding the dual nature of the spindle, wool and threads, which have given room for comparisons between Hittite and Mesopotamian beliefs and ideas.
